King Head, Pontarddulais

The King Hotel dates back to at least 1841 when Daniel Gregory was the recorded publican on the census forms and over the years the pub has been known as the King’s Arms, King Inn and King’s Head.  A popular haunt of miners during the 19th and early 20th centuries.

During the 1920s an occasional drinker was the Welsh boxer Tommy Farr who lodged close to the establishment and fought in local fairs.

In 1938 the pub was taken over by Evans Bevans Breweries, Vale of Neath and the licensee for the following year was one Ruth Helena Owen.  Now a Banks house.

Pontarddulais RFU used the King Head on a regular basis prior to building of the rugby club in the 1960s.

The bar consists of a pool table, darts board and juke box.  A band can be heard every Friday evening and quizzes are popular.

Large car park with enclosed children’s play area.
